Lawyers in Nakuru led a peaceful march on Friday in solidarity with colleagues across the country to condemn the killing of Nairobi based advocate Kyalo Mbobu. His death has sparked outrage and a unified call for justice within the legal fraternity.
Wangare Mwangi, Chairperson of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nakuru Chapter, said that the society stands in solidarity with those who are grieving and angry over a crime that should never happen to anyone.

"No matter the circumstances, advocates and members of the public alike should never have to die in such a way. That is why there are courts of justice. There are avenues you should seek if you have a grievance with someone," Ms Wangare said.
Byron Menezes, who chairs the Advocates Benevolent Association, urged investigators to take threats against lawyers seriously. He highlighted a growing pattern of intimidation, harassment and unlawful restrictions faced by advocates while performing their duties.

"There have been situations in Nakuru and across the country where advocates have been threatened, imprisoned and even denied access to their witnesses. These are critical issues that the police and the DCI should take note of. We are simply doing our duty, a right protected under the Constitution," Mr Menezes said.
Senior Counsel Roland Vincent Onyango echoed these sentiments, describing Mbobu's killing as a painful reminder of the threats that persist in the legal profession.
"It is very unfortunate that we still have to do these things just because of what is happening in this country. We cannot throw justice out of the window," He said emphasizing that lawyers play a vital role in upholding the dignity and rights of every individual.
The lawyers are now urging the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the police to swiftly bring those responsible for Mbobu’s death to justice. LSK maintains that safeguarding lawyers is crucial to upholding constitutional rights and ensuring that the rule of law prevails in the country.
