In Brief: Facts about Brian Odhiambo's dissapearance

- Brian Odhiambo disappeared on January 18 after his mother and other eye witnesses saw him arrested by people in KWS uniform and bundled into their vehicle.
- A six-day protest erupted in Kivumbini estate dubbed #FreeBrian that saw women, men and children engage in running battles with police, all demanding to see Brian dead or alive
- Brian Odhiambo’s mother Elizabeth Auma and the Independent Medico Legal Unit (IMLU) filed a habeas corpus application wanting the court to direct KWS to produce Brian dead or alive
- On January 24, through a sworn affidavit presented in court Abdulrahman Ali Sudi, who works with KWS as a Ranger Driver at Lake Nakuru National Park said he and other officers arrested a suspect conducting illegal fishing at Sewage area at 11 am.
- However, the suspect, whom they could not confirm to be Brian requested to relieve himself only to escape, despite an attempt to apprehend him.
- On February 6, 2025 the presiding judge, Julius Nangea, stated that Elizabeth Auma and IMLU had failed to demonstrate that Brian was in the custody of the respondents (DCI and Park in Charge Lake Nakuru National Park). Therefore, the court could ask the two entities to produce Brian.
- Brian Odhiambo’s whereabouts remains a mystery.
