A family from Mashini, near Sensei Polytechnic in Lanet, Bahati Sub-county, is searching for their 15-year-old son, John Kabu, who went missing on December 26, 2024.

According to the family, John, who has a mental challenge and struggles to communicate, wandered away from their home. He only knows his name, John.

Lucian Njeri, Kabu’s older sister, shared, "He was last seen with my younger sister while they were collecting firewood. However, she reported that he ran off during their task, and she doesn't know where he went."

This is not the first time John has disappeared. Eight months ago, he left home and returned after three days. "We searched everywhere, and thankfully, he came back on his own, changed clothes, and mentioned that a policeman had helped him. But when we asked him to show us the policeman, he couldn’t," Njeri recalls, hoping for a similar outcome this time.

John, a student at Pangani Special School, was last seen in Ndege Ndimu, wearing blue jeans and a white long-sleeved shirt with blue stripes. His family has been searching the area ever since.

The family has reported the case to the Ndege Ndimu police station in Lanet, and the matter has been referred to the Lanet and Mwariki police stations. Authorities have advised the family to await further updates.

"We will expand our search beyond Ndege Ndimu, checking around our home and nearby centers," says Njeri. She believes he may have been trying to return home but got lost along the way.

"The thought of him being out there alone and possibly in danger is unbearable. If anyone has seen him, please contact us immediately at 0729025875, 0792239335, or 0748411476," Njeri pleads.
