A family in Mwariki is searching for their son who disappeared on Sunday after leaving home to attend a service at Chosen Generation Church.

According to his father James Kamawira, Jesse woke up around 8am on Sunday morning as usual to get ready for church.

"He wore his rugged grey jeans, a black hoodie with a Ferrari logo and black boots, got on his blue mountain bike and left home and rode to Chosen Generation Church which is in Barnabas," he said.

It took him 15 minutes to get to the church for the 10am service. Jesse is said to have spent most of the day in the church compound in the company of two boys and two girls, including his best friend.

The group later left the church and went to Jesse's best friend's house in Mashini area for a while and then went to a butcher's shop to get some soup, unfortunately the butcher's shop was out of soup so they left.

The two boys and the girl were left in Barnabas. While Jesse and his best friend, who were both on bikes, went ahead and they later split up at a place called Choices, which is about three minutes away from Jesse's house.

Time passed and by 7pm there was still no sign of Jesse at home.

"It was very strange that Jesse was not home by that time because he never stays out late, so we got worried," said Mr Kamawira.

According to his brother Chrispin Kamawira, he and Jesse have a very close relationship and if anything was wrong, his younger brother would inform him.

"I was really worried that night because I didn't know where my brother was and he didn't have a phone with him so there was no way of contacting him to know his whereabouts," Chrispin said.

The next day, Jesse's brother saw a video shared by his best friend. The video, seen by Mtaa Wangu, showed Jesse in the company of friends who had left church with him, at a butcher's shop and also walking home.

Jesse's family have reported him missing at Mwariki police station. Jesse's best friend has also given a statement to the police, including one of the girls and two other boys with whom he was last seen with.

According to Mr Kamawira, he has made efforts to look for his son at the neighbouring police stations and he has also looked for him at the two mortuaries in the town, but all these efforts have been in vain.

Anyone with information about his son's whereabouts is asked to come forward and share it.
