Good news for Nakuru youth looking to join the Kenya Defence Force
Residents of Nakuru and Naivasha may finally have a chance to be recruited into the Kenya Defence Force (KDF).
In an interview with a local media house, the Vice Chief of Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi, said that they will consider individuals who have discoloured teeth and come from regions with high levels of fluoride in the water.
The Vice chief also spoke about factors that could disqualify an applicant from the ongoing KDF mass recruitment.
"We have realised that there are areas in this country where you have water that has fluoride content and therefore you have people who have mild to moderate tooth discolouration. There are those that are severe. From low to medium, I think that can be looked at so that the medics can say whether you are predisposed or not," said Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi.
He added that people with severe discolouration would not be considered because it could be a sign of underlying health problems.
People with mild to moderate discolouration would undergo dental examinations by dentists who would check whether the applicant was prone to dental accidents.
Not lacking in humour, Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) took to their social networking site to share a few laughs over the matter.
"Finally... see myself as a major," tweeted @EscoWilliam77.
"Wale wa missing tooth/teeth inbox tukupee temporarily the same day," @Dave__3 joked.
"Nikama kimeumana juu watu hawaendi recruitment," @Muchanga teased.
"What about short people?" @Kip38142 asked.
Factors that will disqualify a candidate include stammering, tattoos and the presence of birthmarks on the applicant's skin.
Other physical factors taken into account include the applicant's height and weight. The minimum height for men is 1.60m, while the minimum height for women is 1.52m. The minimum weight is 54.55kg for men and 50.00kg for women.
