In the recently released list aspirants seeking United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Mtaa Wangu has been able to establish that names of certain leaders were conspicuously missing despite having publicly declaring their interest in vying for various seats.

David Gikaria, the Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament (MP) who has served for three terms came out late last year and officially declared his interest in running for Nakuru senatorial seat. For the better part of seven months, he has been traversing various parts of the county, together with Susan Kihika urging people to vote for him come 2027.

However, looking at the list of the UDA senatorial aspirants, his name is not among the 14 individuals who will be seeking to battle it out for the party ticket.

The Molo MP Kuria Kimani is also another such fellow, the legislature has not been a stranger to both the county and national politics. Specifically, referencing the Finance Bill 2024 which made him unpopular among his constituents and the county.

Also, he has been facing fierce opposition from Ngware Joseph, others who have termed him as the legislature top critic and competitor.

Additionally, from the list of aspirants out of all the 11 sub counties, Molo has produced only 2 aspirants for the legislative position making it the lowest in the entire county.

Tabitha Karanja,is also not on the list of aspirants in the UDA party. After her bitter fall out with Susan Kihika two years ago the two have been at loggerheads exchanging words. In the latest episode of their “drama” the Governor decided to sue the Senator over some alleged defamatory remarks made against her.

In Rongai the script seems to be reading from the same book, with the MP also missing from the list. For Paul Chebor, he has found himself in a tussle with the county boss. Apart from the Governor, his rival Komen Kibet who cozied up to the current regime also seems to be a thorn in his flesh and a threat to his position.

Nakuru woman representative, Liza Chelule had also not yet registered by the time the aspirants were doing so. On her end also she has found herself at the cross hairs of the Governor who made serious allegations against her and at the moment her relationship situation with the Governor still hangs in the balance.

During the UDA National Governing Council Meeting, the Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki noted that the exercise of registration of aspirants is continuous until the statutory limit of 90 days before the election.
