Former deputy president Rigathi Gachangua has made damning allegations linking four police officers tp the murder of Tabuga PCEA reverend Julius Ndumia.
Speaking during the requiem mass of Full Gospel Church of Kenya, Reverend Catherine Macharia at Kunste grounds, Gachagua alleged that a CCTV footage retrieved from the church compound captured four police officers entering the cleric’s house.
He pointed out that many leaders are unhappy that the officers who according to him are the main suspects in the murder are walking scot-free three weeks after the brutal murder.
“A CCTV footage is there showing four police officers getting into his house and staying there for three hours and torturing him. Today there is a cover up and they have not been arrested,” he alleges.
Additionally, he raised concerns over the safety of the clergy in the country making reference to the Lanet incident.
Beyond clergy men being attacked he noted the series of violence being witnessed in the county is quite alarming. He warned that fear and anxiety among residents will continue to grow perpetrators are not arrested then
He questioned how safe citizens could feel if even men of God were not protected.
Rev Ndumia was murdered in Lanet at his residence at the Tabuga PCEA church.
Police have so far presented two suspects Beryl Nafula and Felix Okumu in court over the murder of the reverend, where the court granted investigators 21 days to hold the suspects as they proceeded with their information.
More to it police reports followed where they noted they are pursuing a gang that was first profiled in 2022.
In their statements they noted the notorious criminal gang is believed to have been involved with the murder Reverend Ndumia. Adding that the group had been involved in other criminal activities linked to a series of violent armed robberies and attacks within Nakuru County and its environs.
According to investigators, through sustained forensic and intelligence-led investigations, detectives firmly connected the incident to the criminal gang, which is reportedly known for carrying out violent robberies while disguised in security forces attire.
