The passing of former Shabab MCA, Daniel Kamau on Sunday left many Nakuru residents in shock, with many questioning what really happened to the charismatic, outspoken and humble leader, as many of the residents of Shabab describe him.

Mtaa Wangu has learnt that the former MCA had been in a meeting in Kong’asis, for most of the day on Sunday. In his company was the former Nakuru East MCA, Humphery Mwaniki alias Sonko.

David Kariuki a close friend to the family narrates how as soon as they were done with their meeting, Kamau decided to take Humphery to his home.

“Humphery lives near Mzee Wanyama and so as soon as Kamau dropped Humphrey home, he started making his way back to Shabab. When he arrived at a place called Kaka James, that is where the fatal accident occurred,” he says in a phone interview with Mtaa Wangu.

He continues, “While at Kaka James, there was a lorry that was coming from the opposite side and it lost control, hitting Kamau’s car head on. The car rolled before landing on the drainage by the side of the road.”

According to David, first responders who arrived at the scene managed to pull Kamau from the wreckage. He was still conscious.

“He gave the first responders his phone and told them to contact his family. It was at that point that he succumbed to the injuries. He had sustained injuries on his head and was bleeding profusely,” he says.

David says Kamau’s brother was the first to arrive at the scene.

The body of former Shabab representative was later taken to PNN funeral home.

Elias Kamau, the son to the deceased says that his dad was a family man and his duty to his family is what pushed him to greater heights.

“He was a man who built his principals in the hardship of the sun and never compromised on his ability to command respect. This ensured he earned the respect of all those around him which eventually made him a good leader and above all a good man,” he states.
