The sudden death of Derrick Malumasa, whose body was found along the Nakuru-Mogotio road near Kampi ya Moto continues to be surrounded in mystery.

Derrick, was a third year student at Kabarak University, studying to become a nurse. Police in Nakuru say his body was found with stab wounds.

So far, Mtaa Wangu has learnt that detectives pursuing the case have arrested three students who have been linked to the murder of Derrick.

According to the DCI Rongai Donnata Otieno, the three who were friends to Derrick and fourth year students at Kabarak University were the last people to be seen with the deceased.

“The three students were brought before court yesterday where the court ordered that they be released on cash bail. In the meantime, the DCI are to continue with the investigations,” she said.

Mtaa Wangu reached out to Kabarak’s student council President Karen Birech, who noted that the school was waiting for more information from the police.

“We do not have any information on who could have wanted Derrick dead. We are waiting for more information at the moment,” she said.

The burial of the deceased will be held this Saturday in Western Kenya.
