A Nakuru Court has ruled that the six Kenya Wildlife Service Rangers charged with abduction of Nakuru fisherman Brian Odhiambo have a case to answer.
In his ruling on Tuesday Principal magistrate found that the prosecution had provided enough evidence to place Senior Sergeant Francis Wachira, Alexander Lorogoi, Isaac Ochieng, Michael Wabukala, Evans Kimaiyo, and Abdulrahman Sudi to their defense.
Reacting to the decision, the Brian's family welcomed the ruling which the said is a step in the right direction in their quest to get justice for their kin.
During an interview with Elizabeth Auma, the mother to the 31-year-old said that all she wants is to get justice for her son.
“It has now been over a year since I last saw my son, even though it is painful, but today’s ruling is a step in the right direction as I continue to seek justice for my son,” she says.
The defense on their end welcomed the decision and through their advocate, Leon Kalisto, they said that this decision does not in any way mean that my clients are guilty.
“Our clients remain innocent until proven guilty and we are ready to defend them. Each of the accused will adopt sworn statements in their defense,” he told the court
The defense hearing will take place on June 8.
Mr Odhiambo went missing on January 18, 2025, after allegedly being arrested by KWS officers in Manyani area of Nakuru town West.
The officers pleaded not guilty to the charges of abduction and were released on Sh 100,000 bail.
