Christian faithful brave the cold to attend AFLEWO Nakuru event
As most of Nakuru enjoyed the warmth of their beds on Friday night, Christian faithful braved the rain and cold making their way to Nakuru Athletics Club (NAC) to be part of Africa Let's Worship (AFLEWO) overnight Kesha.
Walking into NAC's very wet grounds, one was instantly met with three large tents, very tight security and the aroma of different foods and snacks that were being sold.
The Kesha that was set to start off at 6pm was off to a late start due to the heavy rains with its official commencement not being 10.30 pm.
The prayer and worship meeting officially started with a session of prayers followed by a beautiful rendition of the national anthem led by the AFLEWO choir.
But way before the Kesha officially started, people sat in groups to keep warm, sipping on hot beverages and eating snacks, all while enjoying an acapella version of the choir's warm up.
Having been part of the group of individuals that waited more than four hours for the Kesha to start, I'd note it was all worth it.
The night of worship was graced by renown gospel artist Godwill Babete with the main speaker being Pastor T Mwangi.

Even though it rained all night, worshippers hardly felt any cold as they belted out praise and worship songs that were being sang by the choir all while dancing along.
Notably, I can easily equate the choir's vocals to a preview of what I imagine heaven's choir would sound like.
Another thing that made AFLEWO this year one for the books was the fact that this is the first time the Kesha has been done outside of a church auditorium.
It was refreshing to see a large group of young people passionate about church and spending time in God's presence.
AFLEWO Nakuru 2023 was definitely a vibe! Looking forward to the next one.
