Security coordination and the delivery of government services took centre stage during a consultative meeting between Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo and National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) in Bahati Sub-County, Nakuru County.
The meeting, led by Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr Abdi Hassan, brought together the County Commissioner, Assistant County Commissioners, chiefs, assistant chiefs and village elders to discuss security challenges and strengthen grassroots coordination ahead of the upcoming election period.
Dr Omollo emphasised the importance of closer collaboration between national government administrators and local leaders in addressing security concerns, maintaining law and order, and ensuring residents receive essential government services.
Beyond security, the discussions covered the implementation of government programmes, including the ongoing national examinations and the issuance of national identity cards and birth certificates. These initiatives were highlighted as essential services requiring effective coordination and timely delivery to the public.

Bahati Member of Parliament Irene Njoki called on residents to embrace peace, unity and coexistence, noting that the constituency is home to people from diverse ethnic communities. She stressed the importance of maintaining harmonious relationships among residents, regardless of their ethnic or political affiliations.
The meeting comes as the country prepares for the next election period, when security agencies, government administrators and community leaders are expected to play a critical role in preventing conflicts, addressing emerging tensions and promoting peaceful coexistence.
At the constituency level, security infrastructure has also emerged as a priority. Investments in police posts, police stations and street lighting were highlighted as measures that could improve public safety and strengthen security in local communities.
Njoki emphasised the need to work closely with the National Government to address longstanding gaps in security infrastructure. She noted that political support should translate into tangible development and improved safety for residents.
The meeting underscored the importance of responsive leadership and effective coordination in addressing local security challenges. However, the success of these efforts will depend on the ability of security agencies, administrators and community leaders to respond to residents' concerns fairly and ensure equitable access to government services.
As the election period approaches, sustained cooperation between government institutions and local communities will remain essential in maintaining peace and stability. Residents were encouraged to uphold unity and peaceful coexistence, recognising that collective responsibility is necessary to prevent tensions and safeguard the well-being of all communities in Bahati.
The discussions reaffirmed the importance of strengthening grassroots administration, improving security infrastructure and ensuring that government programmes benefit residents without discrimination.
