Police constable Ephantus Njeru has been linked to the fatal shooting of Daniel Nderitu.

The incident that occurred in London estate on June 9 had brought to the fore seven police officers who were suspects of the heinous crime.

In light of preliminary investigations led by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority ( IPOA) the prosecution narrowed down to one officer.

The other six police officers were released by the court.

These revelations come two weeks after IPOA requested more time to conclude investigations.

The presiding Judge Julius Nangea granted the prosecution one day to carry out a mental assessment in Njeru pending plea taking on June 26.

The incident that angered London residents unfolded when police said to have been collecting brines from bhang peddlers in the area clashed with the peddlers leading to a commotion.

In the melee, Daniel Nderitu was shot and pronounced dead on arrival at the Nakuru County Teaching and Referral Hospital.

This led to a two-day protest that paralyzed transport along the Nakuru- Kabarak road living motorists looking for alternative routes.
