The Nakuru National Agricultural Show has been a long-standing sight for farmers who every year look forward to learning about innovations and technologies they can employ in their farms.

This year will be no different.

According to the Nakuru Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Chairman, Dr. Perminus Migwi, the show is a platform that seeks to showcase innovations and allow everyone to adapt as the world changes.

“Preparations for this year’s show are underway as about 60 exhibitors have boots on the ground to set the ball rolling for a successful learning event for everyone come the next two weeks. Additionally, with the transition to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), the show presents the opportunity for students to complement their studies by learning practical things and link that to the theory in class.”

This year’s theme remains the same as 2023- promoting climate-smart agriculture and trade initiatives for sustainable economic growth.

“The theme remains constant and is consistent with the realities of the day about climate change. The realities of climate change are with us, and farmers must learn various initiatives that can help them adapt,” says Dr. Migwi.

The five-day event covering Nakuru, Kericho, Bomet, Narok, Laikipia, and Nyandarua counties will run from 3rd to 7th July with an expected target of 120 exhibitors- new and old.

Apart from the technological innovations, there is an area set aside to cater to the funfairs targeting families and school-going kids.

“While many of the attendees may be concerned about the security of the show, we assure you that we've made arrangements to beef up security to ensure everyone is safe from the CBD to the grounds, and we shall ensure a smooth flow of traffic for passers-by,” assures Dr. Migwi.
