Senior administration police officers are on the spot over allegations of mistreatment of junior officers in the assignment of duties.

Complaints have emerged implicating the senior sergeants and corporals in Nakuru county, who have been accused of using their position to selfishly assign themselves duty stations that are well paying, at the expense of their juniors.

An officer who spoke to Mtaa Wangu on condition of anonymity, for fear of victimization, said there has been disquiet among the junior AP officers especially in Nakuru town East and West who feel discriminated and abused by their senior.

The officer revealed that the senior officers who are mandated with assigning duties send the juniors to stations where they are paid little or no allowance, while ensuring they themselves go to the organizations where they are paid good amount of allowance per day.

“The sergeants have been assigning themselves to big organizations such as banks and supermarkets where are sure of receiving good allowance, while sending the juniors to stations where they are not even offered lunch,” said the officer.

Another officer revealed that some senior officers become greedy to assign themselves more than one station in order to receive the perks in the evening.

“This is very unfair because we as junior officers have needs. The greed being exhibited by our seniors is too much and leaves most of us demoralized at work.

Responding to the allegations, Nakuru county AP commandant Mr Michael Kariuki admitted the possibility of the claims, although he claimed not to be aware.

According to Mr Kariuki, there could be a possibility of the senior officers becoming selfish since they are the ones in charge of assigning duties.

“The issues have not reached my desk but I cannot deny the possibility of the discrimination. However, I will liaise with the sub county commanders to look into the complaints in order to give a solution,” said Mr Kariuki.

The Police boss noted that the senior officers might have taken advantage of the absence of the sub county police commander who had been taken ill for some time.
