Nakuru will host a game between the Kisumu Rugby Football Club and the Blak Blads of Kenyatta University.

The game which will be held on March 13, this year will happen at a venue that is yet to be communicated.

Speaking to Kevin Odhiambo, an official in charge of Fixtures at the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), he said that this was due to a misconduct charge that was laid against Kisumu RFC after their game with Blak Blad in Kisumu.

“A formal charge was brought against Kisumu which went through the formal internal judicial processes. Upon investigations, Kisumu were found to have a case to answer and directions from the league and fixtures committee was that the game be replayed at a neutral venue,” he said.

He continues to say that the decision for a neutral venue was met owing to the fact that Blak Blad had travelled all the way to Kisumu and were not mentioned anywhere as part or reason of the game being abandoned due to misconduct.

“The middle ground in this case would have had to be a place in the middle of Nairobi and Kisumu and the perfect ground becomes Nakuru. Therefore, the venue will either be the Nakuru Athletics Club or the ASK Showground,” he said.

The venue is therefore dependent on who Kisumu RFC approaches to get a venue and since this was Kisumu’s home game, they will have to bear all the costs with regards to pitch marking, security, match day medical, evacuation needs and any other relevant match day host cost as guided by the KRU regulations.

The game which will be convened mid next week will have no fans in the stadium.
