Wanyore RFC — The self-styled kings of banter getting humbled on the pitch

In the world of sports especially in this current age of social media banter has become somewhat of must.
Let us put it in perspective, whenever a game between Arsenal and Manchester United is to be played over the weekend, the buildup throughout the game is usually captivating, from fans of each team throwing shade at each other, to the teams themselves doing the same.
Back here in our beloved hometown the same also applies, in the space of rugby and to be specific I am talking of Nakuru RFC commonly referred to us Wanyore.
Before any of their home games, the social media manager has diligently been taking to their socials and announcing the teams’ games as they rightly should.
From the graphics of a fearless flamingo devouring its prey to captions that would live their opponents thinking of whether they stand a chance against the mighty team.
However, we only have one problem, that tough talk does not really translate to performance on the pitch.
On their game against Kabras the home team reminded the sugar men that flamingoes are vegeterians na kukula miwa si shida kwao.
However, on the pitch things were totally different, the Wanyore were shown dust and they were thoroughly beaten, 55-08.
Their next game against the Daystar Falcon they in fact put up a poster announcing the death of the team.
On the comments, a Facebook user said that this was the same thing they said before their Kabras game another also highlighted how they have good graphics and banter, however winning is where they draw the line.
The falcons also joined the sugar men in thoroughly outplaying Wanyore and beat them, 35-20.
On Facebook a user said they should instead be posting after the teams have played.
However, in their latest game against Impala Rugby, Wanyore were able to walk the talk by defeating Impala Rugby 46-30.
At the end of the day, whether it is a win or lose, we are here for entertainment.
