Wanyore bounce back from Driftwoods low, head to Prinsloo quarter finals
Home teams Nakuru RFC (Wanyore) and Menengai Oilers are seemingly out to keep the Prinsloo title at home.
With an exemplary start in their performance on match Day one at Prinsloo 7s, the home teams landed a spot at the quarter finals.
More to it, they earned a home derby in the third match of day two, kicking off at 11 am.
Shaking off the unexpected performance at Driftwoods, where they were relegated and had to invite themselves to the tournament, host team Nakuru RFC proved their prowess in the sport on match day one after registering two wins and a draw, closing the day top at their pool stage.
Wanyore edged out 2023 overall circuit winner KCB with a 21 -20 win, closing the bankers run to defend their title.
Scaling the wins, they also beat Mwamba RFC 19 -12 and proceeded to draw with Nondescripts 5-5 to secure their place at the quarter finals.
On the other hand, home rivals Menengai Oilers had a competitive opening match with the season's head on the standings, Kenya Harlequins who beat them 17 -12.
However, Oilers proceeded to win consecutive matches where they beat Zetech Oaks by five points, finishing their second match of the day with a 24-19 win.
To stamp their ticket to the quarter finals, Oilers had a dominating closing match of day one. They thrashed, Driftwood 7s host Mombasa RFC 55-0.
On match Day two, home fans expect a thrilling spectacle of rugby as both Wanyore and Oilers meet head to head for the quarter finals match.
