RVIST, JKUAT, to face off in Nakuru Universities Colleges League finals
First there were eight, then came four and now only two remain; the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) and Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) Nakuru.
In the last month Nakuru has witnessed spectacular basketball games being played by various teams in the Nakuru Universities Colleges League games.
Yesterday’s games were no different as JKUAT Nakuru punched their weight into the finals after defeating Egerton university.
Their series ended 2-0 in favour of JKUAT who won the series after winning two out of the three games played in the series.
The much-anticipated Moi derby was the match to watch.
With the backing of their home fans and some interesting plays RVIST managed to pull one back and the series was now tied at one all. It was then do or die for both teams as they headed to game three.
As game three of the Moi derby began, the tension among the players and fans was visible.
The first two quarters saw the teams go head-to-head but in the third quarter RVIST edged out Kabarak and took an early lead, with one foot already in the finals RVIST relaxed and soon after Kabarak punished them for this costly mistake.
As the curtains draw to a close, all roads will be leading to Kabarak University next weekend for the finals of the Nakuru Universities Colleges League.
