The stage is set for an electrifying Easter weekend as the 32nd edition of the Great Rift Nakuru 10s kicks off on 19 April, culminating in a thrilling final on 20 April at the Nakuru Athletics Club (NAC).

This year's edition will be a three-day rugby extravaganza, starting on Friday April 18, with age-group competitions featuring both boys' and girls' teams.

The main competitions, featuring 12 elite teams, will take centre stage over the weekend.

Defending champions Kabras Sugar RFC will headline Pool A, where they will take on Catholic Monks, USIU Marshalls and local side Nakuru Kiti.

In Pool B, Menengai Oilers RFC, who return after missing last year's event, will test Strathmore Leos, Egerton Wasps and Kiambu Eagles.

Pool C is made up of Blak Blad RFC, hosts Nakuru RFC, Mean Machine RFC and Molo RFC.

"This year's tournament is a bit different from last year's. We have gone bigger. Three full days of rugby, starting with age-group matches on Friday," tournament director Edward Moseti says.

With the theme 'Ol' Skool Vibes', the tournament will offer more than just rugby.

Expect a blast from the past with classic music from the 80s and 90s, a line-up of top DJs and a vibrant, family-friendly environment.

An interesting twist to this year's edition is that vintage car owners will enjoy free parking, while general admission is set at Sh500 and regular parking at Sh200 for other motorists.

Moseti notes that while there's no prize money at the tournament, outstanding players will be rewarded with individual prizes sponsored by Safaricom, including hampers and other goodies.

NAC chairman Dr Victor Achoka notes that security is a major concern, with the venue being guarded day and night.

Winners of the 27th and 29th editions, Strathmore Leos and Menengai Oilers respectively, as well as crowd favourites Nakuru RFC, are expected to bring their A-game as they look to wrestle the title from Kabras Sugar, who lifted the trophy in last year's 31st edition.

"We welcome all teams and fans from all over the country to come and celebrate rugby with us here in Nakuru this Easter weekend," said Dr Achoka.
