Oilers start strong as Wanyore lose to Strathmore in weekend Kenya Cup games

Nakuru Athletics Club was the venue for Saturday's Kenya cup game that saw the home team Nakuru Top Fry go against Strathmore University.
The game saw a low turnout compared to the other tournaments. However, diehard Wanyore fans showed up to support their home team.
As the game began at 3:30 pm, the fans who had eagerly waited for the start of the season game were up on the stands banging the iron sheets of the terrace as they hyped the players.
Considering that the fans had not watched any action on the grounds for a while, this was promising to be an action packed match.
As the game began, the tempo and pace was set by Strathmore team as they made the first try and conversion. But there was hope for the Wanyore team as they also made a try after 10 minutes. From the reaction on the bench and home fans, it was game on.
The first half saw block buster action as both teams made exchange try for try. By the end of the first half, the game was 12-10 in favour of Nakuru.
As the second half started, you could see the worries in the face of the home fans as Strathmore had proved to be a worthy opponent.
The fans were not wrong to worry as Strathmore managed to edge out the home team by beating them 27-24.
On the other side of town at the A. S. K showground, Menengai Oilers went head to head with Homeboyz in an early kick off. Oilers were sure not to disappoint as they thrashed Homeboyz 43-13, recording their first win at the Kenya Cup league.
The season is just at the beginning and anything can happen.
