Saturday March 16, 2024 marked the end of the Match Day 4 on the Nakuru Universities and Colleges Basketball League.

This time round, the Mount Kenya University team who are new participants in this season league had the honours of hosting the games at the MKU hostels.

This was the first time the Mount Kenya University were hosting the Nakuball games and in true Nakuball fashion, both the men’s and women’s teams were handed defeats.

The MKU men’s teams were defeated by Nakuru Teachers Training College (NTTC) 26- 19, while their women counterparts were clobbered by the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) 33-18.

The Secretary General of Nakuball Sports Group, Fidel Ongolla said the entry of MKU into the league and ability to host games in an alternate venue as opposed to the traditional venues truly shows the strides and the effort that has been put in enhancing and promoting the league.

"We had approached MKU a while back with the idea of joining the league but it was not possible. It was through the requests that their students that they were able to join us this season," he said.

The Moi derby between Kabarak University and RVIST was the highlight match of the day and this time, both teams were playing on neutral ground.

As always, the game started as a tight affair but as the game gradually progressed, RVIST proved that they did not come to play.

By the end of the third quarter, the difference between the two teams was undeniable as the game stood at 25- 2 in favour of RVIST.

The fourth quarter came as a mere formality as Kabarak's fate had already been sealed. The game ended 13-32.

In other matches, RVIST women won against the National Youth Service Ospreys (NYS) 26-17. Kabarak also went up against the NYS Ospreys and won 22- 14.
