Menengai Oilers yesterday hosted Strathmore Leos at the Menengai grounds commonly referred to as 'the Refinery'.

The game was highly anticipated as the home fans were eager to see the return of Denis Abukuse who had been out on injury.

There were other noticeable changes on the starting team as Emmanuel Mulla, Brian Ndirangu and Andrew Odero who started in last week's match against Mwamba were put as reserves, while Coleman Were, Chrispine Shitundo and Samson Onsomu were in the starting line.

As the game kicked off, the man to watch was Bildad Ogeta who is the current Kenya Cup top try scorer.

As expected, the game was high impact as the first try came from Jadah Abdon making the score 5-0. Only 10 minutes in, the Oilers were in the driving sit.

The game saw exiting tackles as the fans cheered. At first half, Oilers were leading 8-5.

In the second half, Oilers seemed to dominate the game with a try from Ibrahim Oyoo and a successful conversion.

The highlight of the game came when Bildad Ogeta made a thunderous try amidst cheers from the fans.

The game ended 27-10 in favour of Oilers.

Speaking to Mtaa Wangu, Bildad Ogeta says they had high expectations going into the game and they knew it would not be easy.

"Last season Strathmore beat us. Going into this game, we knew it was going to be hard and therefore we had to work hard to ensure that we got the victory," he said.

With regards to being the top try scorer as of now, Ogeta said he owes this to the great team work that his members display.

"As the number eleven of this team my work is to finish. But all this would not be possible without the support of my team members. It calls on me to remain consistent and continue working even harder to maintain my position at the top," he said.

In another match, Nakuru top fry drew with Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad in a game that ended 19 all. The match was played at Kenyatta University main campus.
