After a hard fought game Nakuru RFC managed to get a win after beating Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Catholic Monks team 31-10 in their Kenya cup match day nine.

With the backing of the home fans, Wanyore truly brought their A game. From the first whistle, it was game on.

The first few minutes saw both teams trying and testing each other but a breakthrough came after Philip Kwame's try, making the game charged up.

The Catholic Monks also managed to get a try through their player Philip Walukhana and a conversion by Samuel Omollo.

Two other tries came from Hannington Wabwire, marking the end of an intense first half.

The second half saw Wanyore dominating the game with tries from Hannington Wabwire and Philip Okeyo and conversions by Philip Okeyo and James Macharia.

Kennedy Njoroge, the Nakuru RFC team coach says it was a bit tricky as he tried to get their footing in the second half.

"In the second half we managed to get our footing and I think the score board can speak for itself. This win is very important to us," he said.

The monks coach Simon Jawichre says that the game was a do or die for the team, but things did not go their way.

"We pretty much lost it in the second half. I can say we did not have a depth in the bench as most of the players are very young, therefore lacking the experience of playing in the Kenya Cup," he said.
