Coming off a bitter defeat at the hands of the Sugar Men (Kabras) at Kakamega Showground last weekend, Menengai Oilers came into this game expecting only one thing and that was a win.

The tension in the stands was palpable as Oilers were not prepared to disappoint their home supporters while KCB were ready to go all out to defend their unbeaten record.

Jadah Abdon of Menengai Oilers drew first blood with a try and Abutwalib Wesonga converted soon after as KCB equalised through Lionel Ajeliti and the KCB fans found their voice to cheer their team on.

The Bankers (KCB) celebrations were short-lived as everything that could have gone wrong went wrong.

The match had to be stopped for a while as the excited fans got too close to the pitch.

By the time Abutwalib Wesonga kicked a penalty and a drop goal to give his team a 16-7 advantage, chants could be heard from the stands.

"Simba amekuwa paka!" could be heard from one side of the stand and the other, with fans chanting "Hatulipi loan! Hapa ni refinery, tunawakaranga na mafuta!"

To add insult to injury, Clinton Odhiambo kicked an unconverted try in the dying seconds of the match to give the Oilers a 21-7 win.

All hell broke loose as referee Constant Cap waved off the match, with Menengai Oilers players and fans celebrating their win.

Across town at the Nakuru Athletic Club (NAC), Nakuru RFC were narrowly beaten by Nondescripts 10-11.
