KeNHA announce alternative routes ahead of WRC safari rally in Naivasha

The World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally headquarters at the Kenya Wildlife Training Institute (KWRI) in Naivasha on March 15,2025.
The adrenaline-pumping World Rally Championship (WRC) is set to take over Naivasha from March 20, 2025 (today), bringing with it a wave of roaring engines, dust-chasing rally cars, and well, some serious traffic.
If you want to have a memorable experience on this edition of the Safari rally, here are alternative routes issued by Kenya National Highways Authority, (KeNHA) to explore during the four days packed rally action in Naivasha.
· The Scenic Route
Nairobi -Rironi -Flyover (Magumu) – Njabini – Ol Kalou – Dundori – Lanet.
· The Adventure Route
Nairobi – Rironi -Naivasha – Engineer – Ol Kalou – Dondori – Lanet
· The Thika Trail

· The Suswa Shortcut

This particular route is recommended for 4 by 4 vehicles and you are also advised to be on the lookout for a murram stretch.
Take your pick and dodge the traffic like a champ.
The authority has also reminded motorists to keep their speed in check and leave the racing to the pros.
“Drive safely, observe speed limits and stay alert on the roads,” reads the post.
If history is anything to go by, 2021, 2022, and 2023 saw thousands stuck in endless jam, missing out on prime rally action.
In 2023, the traffic situation was so bad that many travellers opted to park and chill by the roadside, turning their frustration into a roadside festival. Some even played football as they waited for the roads to open up, making the most of the standstill.
However, authorities strongly discouraged this practice due to serious road safety concerns.
With Vasha calling, you can vroom your way to an unforgettable rally experience.
