Curtains close on KECOSO games as Communication Authority emerge winners
The just concluded, week-long, Kenya Communication Sports Organization (KECOSO) games held in Nakuru have seen Communication Authority (CA) taking the 2024 overall win in 43rd edition of KECOSO game, Scooping the highly contested Mawasiliano Shield .
In an interview with KECOSO Secretary general, Omole Asiko, he notes that it has been a great week of sports in Nakuru.
He noted although the sports were a success, some teams did not manage to participate in this edition because of budget issues.
“Going into next year’s games, we hope that the economy will be performing better. To some extent financial challenges dented this year’s games. The 42 KECOSO defending champions Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) did not get a chance to defend their title. Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) did not make it too,” he says.
Congratulating the top teams, Asiko lauded Communication Authority who were the overall winners, Ministry of Roads and Transport who came in second and third in the tier and Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) for their wins.
“We have seen teams pushing and showing dominance in several sports disciplines, something worth commending them for. We now look forward to roll out plans for the 44 editions of KECOSO games,” he notes.
Mr. Omole maintained that as KECOSO they will continue to bring sports to the people and more so through boarding local teams as participants of KECOSO games, to help grow and expose talent in their host county.
Nakuru Sports CECM, Josephine Achieng’ notes that it is commendable that Nakuru participated in six disciplines, including Basketball men and women, Snookers and Table tennis men.
“Among the six disciplines that Nakuru participated in, the men’s football, Netball, snookers, Table tennis men we ranked third. In men's basketball we ranked second. I thank the KECOSO governing council for giving Nakuru a chance to present our teams,” she says.
