Mbogi, sherehe and moti brings to life the wild WRC Vasha experience

Day three of the Safari Rally Kenya, part of the World Rally Championship, was marked by excitement and colourful scenes as thousands of fans thronged the spectator stages at Sleeping Warrior and Soysambu Conservancy to witness the thrilling motorsport action.

Fans from different parts of the country gathered early along the dusty rally routes, creating a lively atmosphere filled with cheers, music and excitement. The roaring engines of the rally cars combined with the energetic crowd to transform the stages into a vibrant motorsport arena that reflected the deep passion Kenyans have for the iconic Safari Rally.

Families, groups of friends and motorsport enthusiasts lined up along the spectator zones to catch a glimpse of the high-speed action. Parents guided their children to safer vantage points where they could clearly watch the rally cars navigate the rugged terrain.

Those who arrived with vehicles, especially the elevated ones, enjoyed an advantage as they used the elevated positions to view the race without struggling for space. As the rally cars sped through the stages, they left behind thick clouds of dust, popularly known as fesh fesh, while muddy splashes followed in sections where rainwater had collected.

Beyond the racing action, the rally also turned into a social event for many fans who gathered in groups to enjoy the day together. Some came prepared with music and refreshments as they waited for the next car to appear on the stage.

Heavy police presence was also witnessed in the spectator stages as they controlled the traffic.

One excited spectator, Dorcus Muthoni summed up the experience humorously, saying “Hii rally ilikuwa inataka uipange na mbogi yako vizuri,” highlighting the need to plan attendance with friends due to the large crowds and excitement surrounding the event.
