She joined politics as a nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA), a position she served in from 2017 to 2022.

Ms Joyce Anyiso has made a name for herself in Nakuru’s political space.

Despite being soft spoken, Ms Anyiso is never afraid to speak her mind.

She reveals that the idea to join politics came about after completing her high school at Rongai Girls.

“I started participating in politics while in campus where I was involved in a number of community advocacy programs,” Ms Anyiso says.

She adds that her active engagement in community work in Gilgil Sub county saw her identified by former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, which led to her joining his campaign team.

In 2015, Ms Anyiso officially joined active politics.

“My credit goes to Mr Kinyanjui who saw my potential and mentored my political journey,” she says.

It is through her tenure as nominated MCA that she interacted with several women in politics giving her a lot of exposure as she puts it.

Despite the challenges of being side lined by her male counterparts at the County Assembly, the mother of two prides herself in sponsoring a bill that saw installation of CCTV cameras in hospitals and streets within Nakuru.

This, she says was prompted by the rising cases of baby theft at health facilities as well as rape and defilement of minors, an issue she says would be addressed through proper security surveillance.

As a Nominated MCA, Anyiso also participated in pushing a motion to have interns working in various departments in the county, paid a monthly stipend.

What many do not know is that the former MCA comes from a family that has ties with the former Speaker Kenneth Marende, perhaps the reason why she has a passion in politics.

Currently, she serves as the National Women Leader in Ubuntu People’s Forum (UPF) Party.
