When a night out turns tragic

In many occassions, things start off great with everyone exuding positive energy about what the night has in store for them.

And a memorable night out, where everyone gets to have that YOLO (you only live once) experience, is usually at the top of the list.

More often than not, the night ends up being a memorable one.
However, sometimes the happy ending is not experienced by all. For others, a night out in a club has turned tragic.

To give you a better understanding of what we are talking about, below is a list of some of the clubbing experiences that have gone wrong in Nakuru.

HORRIFIC MURDERS AND ACCIDENTS

This particular incident is still fresh in our minds. The name Eileen Cherotich brings back sad memories for many because of the way she died. Eileen, a student at the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST), was found murdered and her body dumped by the roadside after what was believed to have been a fun night out at a club.

In another bizarre incident last year, a police officer shot dead a waitress and a bouncer over a Sh13,000 bill. What was supposed to be a night of fun at the Nax Vegas drinking spot ended with some seriously injured and many traumatised.

FIGHTS AND ARRESTS.

Let me take you back. In 2019, during the Flow na Chrome event held at Nakuru Athletics Club (NAC). The event was marred by chaos and many were injured, including one of the artistes from the Ethic Entertainment group who was hit by a glass bottle on stage.

The event ended abruptly when police were forced to fire in the air to disperse the unruly crowd that had gathered at the NAC.

MCHELE EPISODES

There is a local saying that goes 'never say it can never happen to you'. John Kariuki, a businessman in Nakuru, learned this the hard way when he found himself in a situation he had sworn to his mates would never happen to him.

You see, John believed that he would never fall prey to the devious women in clubs who have a penchant for drugging their male acquaintances in clubs.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened to John when he woke up the next day without his phone, wallet, car keys and belt after being drugged. He also realised that Sh50,000 had been stolen from him.

He woke up in a hostel wondering kwani jana kuliendaje?

HANGOVERS

Of course, the last and most important of all is the time when you wake up in the morning with a terrible headache, wondering why you had to trade the comfort of your bed for this excruciating hangover.

During my time at university, this was a common occurrence among my roommates.

After a night of watching and cheering on the strippers at SEBS, they would come back to our room early in the morning and some would go straight to the toilet to puke. Others would go straight to bed and sleep for hours, waking up with the worst hangovers.
