Two poets and a musician from Nakuru have been selected to perform at the Slam Africa Festival 2025, to be held in Nairobi from 23 to 26 January 2025.

Denis Mwangi, also known as Timelines and Belvin Thee Poet, will feature prominently in the Grand Slam, while Two Tea will perform at the Poetry Slam Africa Concert.

Timelines, a student at Mt Kenya University, has gained popularity among poetry enthusiasts through his strategic use of social media.

Known for his soulful spoken word artistry, Timelines captivates audiences with poetry that stirs emotions and inspires introspection.

His work combines metaphorical brilliance and sharp wit to create vivid, thought-provoking pieces rooted in his lived experience.

He aims to connect, inspire change and ignite a sense of humanity in a world that craves understanding.

Each performance is a powerful call to reflection, challenging audiences to see the world through a more empathetic lens.

Meanwhile, Belvin Thee Poet, a student at Kabarak University, is a bold writer and performer whose spoken word challenges societal norms ingrained in African culture.

With a unique style that blends Swahili and English, her thought-provoking pieces transcend cultural boundaries while remaining deeply connected to her African roots.

Belvin has performed on prominent stages including the Poetry Women Slam (2024), Identity at Poetry Spot and events at the Kenya National Theatre.

She also curated her own show in Nakuru, One Before I Fall, which highlighted her creative vision.

Through her reflective and transformative performances, she challenges audiences to question conventions and reimagine the world around them.

Two Tea, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, is celebrated for his mastery of acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboards and percussion.

His performances are a seamless fusion of technical prowess and emotional storytelling. With an Afro-groove style, he blends diverse rhythms into his compositions, creating a distinctive sound that blends traditional African musical elements with contemporary influences.

His music invites the audience on a captivating and transformative journey, reflecting his deep connection to his African heritage.

The trio's participation promises to put Nakuru on the map as a creative hub for the 2025 Slam Africa Festival.

Poetry Slam Africa serves as a dynamic platform for networking and growth, dedicated to showcasing the finest talent in poetry, spoken word and music across the continent. This year's event is the 66th edition.
