A tribute to the mum of the group in every girl squad

A group of female friends.

This long weekend got me reminiscing on my campus years and missing a particular friend of mine, let's call her Caro*.

My campus story summed up in a statement would be 'good girl gone bad,' but Caro made sure I didn't go too bad.

Whenever the weekend would arrive, I'd get way too excited to go to Platy, Sting or Sebs to dance on the tables or chairs with my girls.

At the time, my squad comprised of six girls inclusive of Caro who was the mum of the group.

Many of the fisis that would frequent these joints and try make a move on one of us weren't too happy with Caro since she shooed them away.

She'd always make sure we had fun but also looked out for us so that none of us put ourselves in harm's way or made a stupid decision in the name of effect ya liquid courage.

Caro was also always keen to ensure we stayed hydrated ndiyo tusipambane na hangy the next morning and especially whenever we partied on school nights, (ahem...I no longer endorse such behaviour).

Contrary to what you might be thinking, Caro was actually gorgeous so no, she didn't keep the men away juu ya wivu, she just had a good heart.

So as we celebrate and commemorate Mother's Day today, I want to give a special shout out to Caro and the ‘mums’ in every squad.

Thank you for looking out for your girlfriends and making sure there are no regrets the morning after sherehe.

Tunawapenda Tu Sana.
