President Ruto injects life back into Nakuru state house
For those who may not know, the President is in town.
The most common sign for many of the residents around Naka and Section 58 is the loud sound of the helicopters which are usually two in number, flying low as they land and take off from Statehouse.
The other common thing would be the fleet of helicopters parked at the field opposite War Memorial Hospital with the famous KAF tags indicating the Kenya Airforce.
It seems that the President has developed a liking to Nakuru considering this year's new year celebrations were held at the State house.
Last year alone he made more than three visits to this city and a number of meetings at the state house.
The last time Nakuru state house was as busy was during the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi’s time, who preferred Nakuru to the other state houses in the country.
This greatly helped in making Nakuru the epicentre of national politics at the time.
Speaking to Mark Oloo a resident in Naka, he says he is usually aware whenever the President is in town.
"In Nakuru it's not every day that you get to see or hear choppers but when the President is here we can always tell from the many choppers that fly around," he said.
Within the city centre however, business is going on as usual.
The President is expected to commission affordable housing units in Bondeni on Saturday January 13, 2024.
