Platinum 7D Lounge, one of Nakuru’s most iconic entertainment venues, has officially shut its doors after 14 years of operation. The announcement, made on May 7 via the club’s social media pages, marks the end of an era for the city’s vibrant nightlife scene.
“After 14 unforgettable years, the curtains have officially closed on Platinum 7D Lounge Nakuru,” read part of the club’s statement. Management described the journey as one built on music, friendship, and celebration, adding that the lounge had become “more than a club it became a home for memories and a legacy that will remain part of Nakuru’s history.”
In the post, the club extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported it over the years from loyal patrons and staff to DJs, artists, and partners. “To every customer, DJ, MC, artist, staff member, partner, and friend who walked this journey with us, thank you for the love, loyalty, and support throughout the years. From the bottom of our hearts... thank you, Great people of Nakuru,” the message read.
A former employee who sought anonymity revealed that staff were called into a meeting earlier this week, where directors informed them of the closure but did not disclose specific reasons.
However, the employee noted that business had been declining in recent months.
“Sometimes the club was empty even on weekends, which used to be our busiest days,” said a DJ who previously performed there. “Even popular events were seeing fewer revelers.”
Other sources, however, believe increased competition and declining marketing performance may have contributed to the decision.
Despite that, many will remember Platinum 7D for its signature parties, live performances, and resilient spirit notably surviving both the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenging post-pandemic recovery period that saw many entertainment spots shuttered.
As of now, it remains unclear what will become of the space previously occupied by Platinum 7D Lounge.
In its final statement, the management summed up the venue’s legacy with a message that resonated deeply among its fans: “The music may stop, but the memories will live forever.”
