Nakuru residents call for Peter Mwanzo's return

Nakuru residents have taken to social media to lament about the transfer of former county police commander Peter Mwanzo.

Following reports of insecurity in the areas of Rhonda, Kaptembwo and Bondeni, residents are using social media posts to demand that Peter Mwanzo be transferred back to Nakuru to tackle the insecurity menace.

Mr Mwanzo was posted to Nakuru in June 2022 after six women were raped and murdered in cold blood in the Mawanga area.

In response, former CS for Interior Fred Matiang'i appointed him as Nakuru County police commander to tame the activities of organised criminal gangs that had left residents living in fear.

During his tenure in Nakuru, residents felt that the former police boss had managed to deal with organised crime. He was later recalled to Nairobi after the Kenya Kwanza administration took over power.

In light of this, locals have taken to Facebook to call for his redeployment.
