Talanta Hela, an initiative that will grant Kenyan youth the opportunity to get nurtured and funded for their creativity and talent, was launched on Friday.

The launch that was spearheaded by President William Ruto was held at State House Nairobi.

Despite the event having various content creators in attendance, Mtaa Wangu noted that no content creators or musicians from Nakuru were in attendance at the exclusive event.

Some of the faces expected were Tiktok sensations Elvis Mushila, Nakuru Famous and King_Tizian or at least musicians such as Rhonda Bwoy and Lexsil.

Talanta Hela is indeed an opportunity for great transformation of the nation’s entertainment, arts and sports scene.

It seems the government missed out on a great opportunity to enhance diversity and inclusivity by not inviting Nakuru-based content creators.

Nakuru hopes that unlike the exclusivity witnessed during the selection of the attendees for the launch the initiative will be an all-inclusive one regardless of the participants’ sex, class or in this case, town of origin.

How can you be a part of the Talanta Hela Initiative?

Step 1: Go on Google Playstore or App Store and search for the Talanta Hela application and download it.

Step 2: Once installed onto your device, key in your phone number and key in the OTP that you receive

Step 3: Follow the instructions and prompts such as keying in your full name and indicating your national ID number

Step 4: After you have filled in all the required information, click create account. This step will lead to another page that will request you to key in your date of birth and gender.

Step 5: Indicate your talent name and select a talent category. The two options to choose from are creatives and sports. In the case that you choose sports, you are required to indicate the exact sport be it netball, football etc.

Step 6: Upload a video showcasing your special skill or talent to your profile. Add a description of what you are showcasing and submit it. Once done, you will await notification of progress.

Once your video is successfully submitted, it is assigned the respective scout. Afterwards, the said scout will either decline or approve your profile giving a reason for the decision.

In the event your profile is approved, it is assigned for a second review which is done through scouts who poll and score you. Upon approval at the second review stage, you will get an invite for physical trials at the selection centers.
