My Hood: Your checklist before making that move to Nakuru city

A view of Nakuru city during the day
Dearest gentle mover,
I know moving may not be on your top priority list now, but it’s still on your list.
I also know that you have always heard of NaxVegas and perhaps are thinking of it as the best town to move to, siezi kudanganya, it is.
Ignore the naysayers, expressing their displeasure by tarnishing our reputation on how our samosas are made of cat meat. Come on, we moved on and so should you.
But away from the food debate, stand giants of estates that have made a name for themselves. Here is what you should look out for before settling down.
Insecurity
Houses in Nakuru have a fair price point and have not experienced the daylight robbery some landlords have exposed you to. We have affordable estates like London, Bangladesh, Shabab, White House, and Langalanga among others.
However, be warned that in your quest to look for an affordable house, security must be of your utmost priority. Make sure you distinguish the estates ama utakua unalala kama umekunja ngumi ready for a fistfight to protect your property.
Water shortage
Water is life and there is nothing more irking than lacking this essential commodity. So when doing your due diligence, ensure not to fall for the old age trick of caretakers convincing you to have running water ,only to find yourself in Kiamunyi buying water from the nearest vendor.
Poor road network
Although good road networks within estates are on every person’s checklist for house hunting, we must agree that usually, the cost of rent rises as ease of access improves.
Areas like Kagoto- although also very affordable, just after White House, may not be your cup of tea as the roads are poor.
History of fissures
As recent as last month, some estates in Nakuru experienced deep fissures following the heavy rains. These did not spare anyone as they affected farmlands, rental houses and investments.
My advice to you, do your research on whether the estate you want to move to has had history of fissures. Geologists say this phenomenon will keep happening and therefore, you want to be on the right side of the divide, literally.
Baboon invasion
Now, you must know that Nakuru has a park; the magnificent Lake Nakuru National Park. Inside this tourist attraction are baboons that have a tendency to roam outside the Park into the homes.
Should you want to move into an estate that boarders the Lake, you may have to content with these unwanted guests.
Therefore, before the picturesque view of the Lake excites you, find out how reinforced the apartment you want to move into is or you will have to share your balcony with these animals.
But hey, no matter which estate you choose, Nakuru is the best fit. Happy house hunting!
