What started as a pass time activity for Col (Rtd) Joe Maingi is now one of Nakuru’s most sought after recreational facility.

The Fish Park Resort which sits on an 8-acre piece of land near Shiners Girls brings out a serene feeling thanks to the trees that dot the facility.

Maingi says he set up the resort after retiring from the Kenya Defence Forces.

And in true military fashion, all the activities at the camp are inspired by training obstacles that Maingi encountered in the military.

“We first set up the zip line which is a common training tool in the military but I discovered that it is now being used for recreational purposes,” Maingi notes.

The team went on to establish different obstacle courses which have piqued the interest of adrenaline junkies in Nakuru and beyond.

“All activities set in this place have borrowed their expertise from the military though now done to promote physical fitness, team building and fun,” Maingi adds.
