How a beautiful love story was born inside Nakuru's night club

It was at a popular night club in Nakuru where Dan Munga locked eyes with Irene Muthoni across the crowded dance floor.

In that very moment, the rhythm of the music synchronized with their hearts, marking the beginning of a love story.

Munga says, "I had gone to the club that day just like any other Friday. Little did I know that this one weekend, a day before Easter will be the beginning of a life-changing journey."

The 29-year-old discloses that the beats of the song number one by Diamond sparked a connection that transcended the club scene. As it is from the song that the two, both tipsy, danced to.

"That dance floor became our metaphorical stage where our love story began. The energy of that club night lingers in our relationship, infusing it with passion, "he jovially expresses.

In true feminist fashion, it was Muthoni, 25, who decided to move the conversation forward, asking Munga for his number.

Swept away by her charm and good looks, Munga obliged, exchanging phone numbers with this beautiful stranger he had just met.

But as the night progressed, it seemed cupid had other plans as they both ended up in Munga’s house, too engrossed in each other to part ways.

“Muthoni ended up staying at my house longer than that one night. I remember she would comfortably do house chores, something I had never experienced from my past relationships. I could tell she was different,” Munga recalls.

Only two weeks after, it became clear that their connection was fuelled by more than just booze. It was deeper than that.

Answering the call within to see where this new flame would go, the two decided to make it official.

Five years later, Munga says they are still in love, having been able to navigate through life changes hand in hand, just as it was on the night they first danced together.

According to Muthoni, that night club has over the years become a sacred place where they honour their journey with occasional visits.

"I treasure that day a lot because I found my perfect man who has made me evolve into the woman he always wanted to settle with," she says.

Munga concludes, "It’s still unbelievable that the night I had gone to drink my frustrations away became the night fate introduced me to a woman who became my greatest blessing and my support system."
