Here are four gospel artists who started their careers in Nakuru city

Priding itself as a Christian city, it's only expected for Nakuru city to have birthed some of the greatest gospel artists that have helped put Nakuru on Kenya's map.


1. Evelyn Wanjiru

One of the artists that have helped put Nakuru on the map is Evelyn Wanjiru.

The Nakuru born worshipper has released many popular songs and is known as one of Kenya's greatest worship leaders, constantly holding an annual Praise and Worship meeting known as the Praise Atmosphere.

Some of her top award winning songs are Mungu Mkuu which won the 2014 Xtreem Awards Worship Song of the Year, Nikufahamu which won the 2016 Groove Awards Worship Song of the Year, Tulia which won the 2016 Groove Awards Collab of the Year and Waweza which won the 2014 Xtreem Awards Worship Song of the Year.

Other awards that Evelyn Wanjiru has bagged are the Mwafaka awards 2018, Female Artist of the Year and the 2018 Sauti Awards Worship song East, West and South Africa.

2. Godwill Babete

Known for his top songs Neno Lako and Umenibeba, Godwill Babete has become a favourite among gospel music lovers

The Nakuru born worship leader was awarded the 2020 HTA Impact Gospel Awards Songwriter of the Year and is a two-time nominee at the Groove Awards, having been nominated for the Worship Leader and Worship Song of the Year categories.

Apart from these nominations and awards, Godwill has performed at numerous worship festivals and meetings such as the recently held Africa Let's Worship (AFLEWO) meeting that was held at Nakuru Athletics Club (NAC).


3. Faith Nduhiu

Another worship powerhouse that Nakuru city has produced is Faith Nduhiu who recently released 'Ametenda.'

Faith Nduhiu is known for her songs Naringa Nawe, Unaweza, Ukuu wa Mungu and Nguvu za Msalaba.

Naringa Nawe earned Faith Nduhiu the 2019 Great Rift Valley Gospel Awards Song of the Year.

Additionally, Faith Nduhiu was also named the 2021 Great Rift Valley Gospel Awards Female Artist of the Year.

4. Timam

Gospel artists Timam Evans is known for singing gospel songs in sheng'.

Known for his street worship, Timam has curved out a name for himself among the young as he makes worship a bit more relatable, singing his worship songs in sheng’. Some of his most known songs are Washa Nare, Mtakatifu, Niwee ft Moji Shortbaba and Sina Kirathi(Heshima) ft Mercy Masika.
