A Bunch of Idiots Production will represent Nakuru County at this year’s Kenya International Theatre Festival (KITFest), standing out as the only group from Nakuru to take part in the prestigious event.

Their journey to the national stage began earlier this year when they emerged as winners at the County Theatre Fiesta, earning the honor of showcasing Nakuru’s creativity and talent on an international platform.

Their much-anticipated performance will take place in Nairobi on November 6th, during the 10th edition of KITFest, a grand celebration of theatre that runs from November 4th to November 15th.

The festival, which attracts performers from over 15 countries, promises 15 days of spectacular artistry, diverse theme nights, and immersive workshops designed to connect storytellers from across the globe.

The Nakuru team will stage What If, a daring and thought-provoking play that delves into the chaos that unfolds when a young theatre troupe decides to stage a politically charged production.

As the story progresses, the group faces a whirlwind of challenges, from late actors and sudden power cuts to censorship threats and personal betrayals, all while their dream performance begins to unravel in real time.

What starts as a simple rehearsal quickly spirals into a dangerous confrontation with truth, exposing how art, fear, and freedom often collide in a nation that silences its own storytellers.

What If is more than just a play; it is a bold meta-theatrical reflection on courage, complicity, and the heavy price of speaking out.

For A Bunch of Idiots Production, performing this piece at KITFest is not only an artistic milestone but also a statement, a declaration that Nakuru’s theatre scene continues to thrive, evolve, and make a powerful contribution to Kenya’s growing cultural narrative.
