Netizens had a lot to say about a group of Nakuru church leaders who defended President Ruto’s donation to churches, terming this an ‘offering of thanksgiving’.
Duncan Musasisa decided to take on the Pentecostal Church over their sentiments.
“According to the opinion of many Kenyans, the Pentecostal group has disappeared. These leaders have put their stomachs ahead of faith. You were given freely. Also what the left hand has produced, the one on the right should not know,” he says.
Mukao wa Nkungu seems to be thinking along the same lines as Duncan.
What the right hand does, should not let, left hand to know. Sadaka in the church is not a public domain or publicly announced like harambee, it's secret, private and confidential. Our president is not offering as he says, he's doing harambee. And church leaders should stand firm in condemning hypocrisy.
Enrique Mwangi seems not to know any of the pastors who term the donations as an offering of thanksgiving.
“Am a Nakurian and I know none of these so called Pastors. Kwani which denominations do they represent?”
Maria Musyoka, another resident, also sdissassociates herself from the pastors saying, “These are not from Nakuru.”
In addition to disagreeing with their point of view, others like Isaac Waweru decided to go the biblical way and use bible verses to counter their point of view.
“Matt 6:1 Men may see the righteous acts or charitable works of God's people and it is right that they should (5:16). But His people must not do them hoping men will see them and praise them. It is enough that God sees and approves. There must be no hypocrisy in God's kingdom, no using religious acts to impress men, gain a name, or get praise.”
Mercy Ndegwa decided to make it personal and she compared and contrasted this Pentecostal group with Apostle John Kimani saying, “These pastors should emulate Apostle John william Kimani he has built a church, prayer center and now he is building a city , he does not invite politicians in their kingdom seekers nakuru altar for donations.”
Hapo Mercy ulicheza rough.
Anyway moving on, things started getting noisier and messier in the comment section with issues of national importance also taking centre stage.
Laban G Bonyns says, “Why can't they defend SHA, education…”
Sharon Shalom also brought up the issue of lack of proper infrastructure in some parts of the country which the church should be at the forefront of advocating for.
