The day my mother confused paragliders in Naivasha for people ascending to heaven

Paragliding is a sport that is slowly catching on in Naivasha.

In the town of Naivasha, paragliding is a rare sight. But recently, the skies of Naivasha have turned into an unexpected spectacle.

Amidst my brother's and I lazy afternoon, a sudden cry from our distressed mother who was planting kales in the kitchen garden disturbed the peace of our day.

Rushing outside, we were greeted by a sight that had left my dearest mother convinced it was the second coming of Jesus.

Six paragliders gracefully floated in the sky. This she had confused for people ascending to heaven.

My mom, deeply religious, sat on the 'Kiti Moto,' trembling with fear at the prospect of being left behind.

She was praying that the Lord may forgive her as she has been a faithful servant, all while we tried to calm her down.

After successfully assuring her that this was a sport and not a divine event, we spent fifteen minutes watching the paragliders dance with the wind.

We however couldn't help but tease her about her previous dramatic episode, which continued during dinner as we shared this amusing tale with Dad.

We reminded her that the day's events symbolized a popular Kikuyu song where the artist cries "What will he do now that he's been left behind and he always thought he will be the first one..."

The evening became a delightful blend of family laughter and reflections on preparedness for the second coming of our Lord and Saviour.

So quick question, beloved, are you ready for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ?
