Last week, Mtaa Wangu did an exclusive story highlighting the intrigues of the scam that runs in broad daylight in the heart of Nakuru city along Kenyatta Avenue.

Following the expose’, Nakuru residents took to social media to give their two cents.

Stephen Mathu says, “Na Kuna wengine bado KANU house opposite safaricom and they normally target the old women and gukas.”

Blessed Nancy Wambo also agrees with Stephen.

MtaaWangu find out more also on another tent outside KANU house ,they say if your safaricom line has been in use for the last six months, they are giving out umbrellas and credit. I saw one and I had to murife...just a concern,” she says.

For some, the fact that the police and county government have not come in to arrest the situation raises a serious point of concerned.

Mutai Charles Kipkemoi says, “It’s quite disturbing when our officers are busy patrolling the same street on daily basis but instead of taking the necessary action, they choose to turn a blind eye on the same!!!

Maina Kiama also raises a similar concern.

“Where are the county and NPS officers?” he says.

Francis Karima says, “This is very serious targeting our unsuspecting parents who come to town for one reason or the other... The police will walk past them like nothing is happening, very Sad state....”

In a follow up story, we outlined how through a court order these individuals managed to get a license. The police on their part said no one has ever filed an official complaint, leaving their hands tied.

Angel Phy Benedict highlights an incident she witnessed first-hand.

“Weeeeee walicon mama mwingine hapo guesss what alipiga nduru policemen came wakaenda na hiyo gari ya hao watu keshoyake tena iko apo??mimi waliniaproach nikawaambia sitaki pesa nataka kufa maskini matusi nilipewa aki muniombee nisikuwe na heart attack” she says.

Paul Mwangi’s experience also reads from a similar script to that of Angle.

“Another day nlipita hapo, i was given number kwa card i refused to take, I was chased away” he says.
