Nakuru artist Melson decries abduction of Brian Odhiambo in new song
Muthoni Melson. Nakuru upcoming artist.
Brian Odhiambo is a name that has evoked emotions of pain, anger, and sadness in Nakuru residents, particularly those who live in Kivumbini.
For the better part of the last ten months, the mystery behind his disappearance has become an emotive topic.
Now, one musician has decided to package this pain into a song.
“Bring back Brian,” is the message in the latest song released by Melson, a Nakuru-based artist. In the song, he features governor aspirant Eng. Evans Kimori.
During an interview with Melson Muthoni, he told Mtaa Wangu that the song comes from a place of pain.
“I come from Kivumbini. Brian was a very close friend of mine. When I heard of his abduction, I was very sad. Even in our neighbourhood, things have never been the same,” he says.
In his song, he calls out the authorities for the increased number of abductions saying please to end them have gone unanswered, therefore drawing the conclusion that in Kenya there is no justice.
Melson also highlights the emotional torture that Brian’s family and friends have gone through since his disappearance.
“At the beginning of this year, we had protests. It was a very painful period for us as the community in Kivumbini. Then we have been in and out of court for the better part of this year, but the question still remains, where is Brian? That is why I wrote this song, asking those who took Brian to bring him back so that they can end our misery,” he said.
Brian Odhiambo went missing on January 18. According to eyewitnesses, the last time he was seen alive, he was in the company of Kenya Wildlife Service officers as he was being bundled into a vehicle.
The matter has been in and out of court for the better part of this year until May 5, when six KWS officers were arrested in connection to the abduction of Brian Odhiambo.
The matter is currently in court.
