In politics it has been said that it is not too late or too early to declare your intentions.

Living up to this statement, Kennedy Kabugi popularly known as i_amkabugi has openly declared his interest in vying for the Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament seat.

“I will be on the ballot come 2027 and I will seek to become the Member of Parliament for Nakuru Town East, but I am also looking at the senatorial seat” he said. during an interview with Oga Obinna on his YouTube Channel, Obinna TV where

Mtaa Wangu got in touch with the 25-year-old resident of Mzee Wanyama who said that the love for his people is what has really inspired him to want to become a leader.

“I was born and raised in Nakuru. Over the years, people have only associated me with my comedy. I have been a leader even at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, (JKUAT) Nairobi, so it is something that has always been in me,” he says.

He adds that it’s not that the current crop of leaders are doing a bad job, but that the vision he has is one that would resonate with the people who he aspires to lead.

“Issues to do with the water shortage and better access to roads is something that I think I would really set as my priority because these are some of the things that are a huge challenge to my people,” Kabugi notes.

According to him, it is indeed a time for the youth to take the mantle of leadership since they are the ones who are a majority in the population.

“Instead of youth being exploited by politicians in every political cycle and being forgotten at the end, I believe it is time for the youth to be the ones to set the agenda.”

Kabugi concludes by saying that in the time being, he is still focused on his comedy and is seeking to develop his career and content creation as a whole.
