Former Nakuru cook reveals the disgusting side of Ugali sosa

Ugali is the most common food sold in kibandaskis.

For those who always believe in getting their money's worth then kibandaskis will always be their preferred choice.

For the ugali lovers in the house, the ugali sosa that comes along also brings joy to both your hearts and bellies.

For the cool kids ugali sosa is ugali that you are given to finish up the stew you are left with in your plate.

Many who have had this second portion would say that it slaps harder than Salasya.

Recently, I got to hear a very interesting twist to the ugali sosa tale from a former waiter who had worked at a Kibandaski for three years before becoming a truck driver.  

“There are times when people would not be able to finish their serving of ugali and the manager would warn us against throwing it away as he did not want to incur a loss. Therefore, he told us to cut off the part that was touched and go ahead and serve the rest as ugali sosa to those who requested for some,” he says.

“To add onto the twist, the sosa is charged at sh. 10,” he says in disgust.

One could only imagine the health hazards that would accompany this, but for the manager, it was just pure greed.

John* says while serving to other people it was lukewarm and those asking would never mind considering it was a small portion they were being given.

“Adding to the fact that it was during lunch time and many people were in a rush to go back to work, they would rarely notice. All they thought of was getting their bellies full and going back to work,” he adds.

After what he saw while working there, John says he is cautious of where and what he eats.
