Stagematt chap chap shuts down, new store takes up space

Stagematt Supermarkets, a well-known name in Nakuru that once boasted of three branches in the city centre, has now downsized to just one.
The transition began with Stagematt Peckers closing down to make way for Wajose Smart Wear. More recently, Stagematt Chap Chap also shut its doors, leaving only the Stagematt Corner Branch in operation.
A visit to the former Stagematt Chap Chap site reveals a scene of change and disappointment. Some customers arrive only to be met with barricade tape, while others, too weary to seek an alternative, stand along the corridors confused.
Outside, the familiar navy blue walls that once told the Stagematt story have been replaced by a pink paint coat, signalling a new chapter.

Building previously hosting Stagematt supermarket now painted pink.
The building is abuzz with activity, from the ground floor to the upper levels, where grinding machines echo through the space.
The exterior has also undergone a transformation, with doors repainted pink and the grid outside now white.
Movement in and out of the premises remains minimal with a guard at the entrance to ensure no unauthorized person gets in.
According to a confidential source, the building is undergoing renovations and will soon house Wa Morgan Collection.
"The building is still in the renovation phase and will host a clothing store, making it Wa Morgan’s third branch in the city," the source reveals.
The store is expected to open in two months, with management aiming to solidify its presence in Nakuru’s clothing market.
Wa Morgan is already one of the largest clothing retailers in Nakuru, operating two branches. Once this new location is operational, it will be their biggest yet.
