A Nairobi-based business Riftech Solutions has expanded its operations to Nakuru in response to the growing demand for laptop stickers and wraps among students, professionals and electronics resellers.
According to the company's founder, Dickson Kibet, this move marks the firm's first major step beyond the capital as it seeks to expand its regional presence.
“We started in Nairobi and thought we should extend the market beyond the city. Nakuru seemed like a good place to start,” Kibet told Mtaa Wangu.
Although the Nakuru branch is still in its early stages, Kibet says that online marketing has been instrumental in building brand visibility and attracting clients.

“Once we improved our visibility and focused on providing a quality service, referrals started coming in. That’s how we grew in Nairobi, and we plan to apply the same strategy here in Nakuru,” he says.
Founded in 2021, Riftech Solutions specialises in custom laptop stickers and wraps, ranging from plain carbon fibre finishes to artistic and themed prints. The company has found a niche among laptop resellers who prefer plain wraps to conceal scratches or dents on refurbished ex-UK laptops.
“Resellers like the plain designs because they help cover imperfections and make the laptops look new again,” Kibet explained.
The more creative designs, including art, anime and football team logos, have proven popular among university students and young professionals looking to personalise their devices.

“Students are our biggest market. Once someone has personalised their laptop, others quickly become interested,” he says.
In Nakuru, Kibet notes that the response has been positive, largely driven by the student population and the region's growing tech-savvy youth demographic.
Prices for the wraps vary depending on coverage: one side costs Sh500, two sides cost Sh800, and three sides cost Sh1,200. Installation is offered free of charge.
His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is straightforward: start small, be consistent, and use creativity to gain a competitive edge.
“Every person with a laptop is a potential client. Branding is equally important because it builds trust,” he advised.
Looking ahead, Riftech Solutions plans to strengthen its presence in Nakuru before expanding to other towns.
“Life is hard, but we have to keep pushing growth is guaranteed when you stay consistent,” says Kibet.
