Maybe its time to move away from land investments in Nakuru. My Gen Z perspective

For most of our parents and those who went before them, wealth was more often than not measured by the amount of land one had.

This measure of wealth has been carried through generations.

With the continuous increase in population, this precious commodity has become more scarce, making it more valuable.

In Nakuru, there have been numerous cases of public utilities being allegedly grabbed by a few individuals for their own benefit.

According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the commission has filed suits in court to recover grabbed public  property in Nakuru cumulatively valued at Sh 12.1 billion.

In the recent few weeks, the talk around town has been about land issues, from the Nakuru War Memorial hospital saga, the St. Paul’s Primary School court ruling, issuance of title deeds in Block 14 in the Manyani area and various homes being demolished by unknown individuals claiming a section of land in Langalanga.

With this current state, buying and investing in land is seemingly a risky affair.

Perhaps this being the case, it would be time to find other avenues to invest in.

With the world already in the digital space, there are countless opportunities where one can be sure of returns in their investments.

Companies that are already established in the tech and digital spaces such as Google, Meta Verse, Amazon and many more offer numerous possibilities.

One such example, would be investing money in a tech hub that deals with all matters technology from programming to coding.

All these may be done in a mall office space and in the spirit of embracing digital innovation and empowerment, people could actually work remotely.

With time, one would be able to put their money in a space where they are sure they will not be forcefully evacuated or even taken to court for allegedly stealing another’s property as in the land cases.
